Special features regarding teaching

Tutoring and mentoring system, exam discussion groups, evaluation of lectures, incentives awarded for particularly high-performing students (e.g. arrangement of work placements, continuous advice and coaching by academic advisor). Interdisciplinarity and strong research orientation are the unique features of the faculty compared to other economics departments. Regular annual reviews as a means of QM: Identify opportunities for improvement and evaluate the effect of changes.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Continuous expansion of the English-language course offerings; Regular international guest lectures; International visiting professors and lecturers; Summer and Winter Schools in English in cooperation with international partners; Establishment of a multidisciplinary, international alumni network; Internationalisation of the Master's degree programmes (previously two fully English-taught Master's degree courses, more being planning); Dual-degree programme being developed. The digitalisation knowledge gained during the coronavirus pandemic is used and video courses are offered.

Special features regarding the equipment

Education & media lab for students and teaching staff for professional video production; Many PC clusters (including with SAP/R3, SPSS-equipped computer workstations); Human computer interaction lab (e.g. equipped with soldering workstations); Usability Laboratory; Fabrication Lab (e.g. equipped with 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC milling machine, etc.); Various software licences also free for students; access to databases such as EBSCO, ScienceDirect, Springer Link, Iuris, and many more.

Support for founders

ventUS; The University of Siegen is represented by the ventUS project as part of the EXIST Potentials funding initiative. ventUS, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK), aims to further strengthen start-up activities at the university and in the region and to increase the number of spin-offs.; Incubator: ONE SMALL STEP; Seminars on business start-ups are also offered in Business Administration (by practitioners, among others). The start-up office of the University of Siegen offers a wide range of support.
