Special features regarding teaching

The special feature is the close integration of theory and practice. Through an integrated practice semester, project work, laboratory events, excursions, students receive valuable insights into practical working procedures. The foundation is composed of the construction disciplines traditionally anchored at the HFT: Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building Physics and Surveying degree courses, as well as Business Administration degree course. Industrial Engineering places the focus on construction and real estate: 50% Civil Engineering, 30% Business Administration, 20% legal subjects/key skills.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Students of the degree course Industrial Engineering - Construction and Real Estate have access to over 70 partner universities; Students may complete the supervised practical study project or a study semester abroad and have these credits recognised.

Exchange universities for stay abroads

Jönköping University, Schweden; University of New Brunswick, Kanada; British Columbia Institute of Technology,Kanada; Tec de Monterrey, Mexiko. Nelson Mandela University Souh Africa.

Special features regarding the equipment

7 teaching and research laboratories, all with state-of-the-art equipment, are available to students. In addition to compulsory and voluntary laboratory practice, these facilities offer the opportunity to acquire additional qualifications, e.g. the first part of the training for the international welding engineer. All of the facilities and test benches of the Institute for Applied Research are available with their competent staff to students for final theses.

Special features regarding research activities

Students benefit in many ways from these activities: the latest research findings are incorporated directly into teaching, and students are involved in the thought process for demonstration experiments and can be involved as assistants and through their final theses.

Support for founders

PLAN G is the central point of contact for start-ups and entrepreneurship at Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences. What's special about it: PLAN G promotes ideas that can be assigned to an important area of competence at the university: the city of the future. In addition, the Industrial Engineering - Construction and Real Estate professors are available to provide support with their extensive industry contacts.

Other special features

Due to the work of numerous teachers in committees for regulation and standardisation, the technical regulations are all extremely current, and some are already incorporated into teaching before their final publication. Due to the very good networking of teaching staff in industry, numerous short excursions to the individual areas of expertise are carried out in the greater Stuttgart area. This significantly increases the practical component of teaching.
