Special features regarding teaching

Small group sizes in lectures (35-45 students) and seminars (15-23 students); Focus in the field of Clinical Psychology with six chairs/professorships represented; Integration of instruction and research through curricular small-group projects in the research areas of the department; curricular and personnel representation of all scientifically recognised methods in psychotherapy; Involvement of external experts in the training of psychotherapy procedures

Special features regarding the international orientation

There are currently seven Erasmus partnerships available to students: University of Klagenfurt (Austria), University of Cyprus (Cyprus), Université de Nantes (France), University of Palermo (Italy), Università degli Studi di Roma La Sapienza (Italy), SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities Warsaw (Poland) and Yeditepe University (Turkey). Outside of Europe, there is a cooperation arrangement with the University of Havana (Cuba).

Special features regarding the equipment

The various laboratory spaces with different technical equipment can be used for thesis work (e.g. sound-absorbing privacy partitions, sound-insulating headphones, virtual reality equipment, separable area for toddler studies, stress laboratory, EEG laboratory, digital camera). The library provides access to approx. 1,573 electronic journals in psychology. Of these, about 769 titles are freely available and about 804 are licensed.

Special features regarding research activities

Key focus areas in the field of clinical psychology and healthcare research, particularly in the field of integrated and personalised/person-centred preventative health care (IPHP). Cooperation with other departments within the Faculty of Health (Medicine, Dentistry, Care Management), and with external cooperation partners, e.g. via Psycho-cardiology, Psycho-oncology, Psycho-immunology, etc.

Other special features

There is a 2-step selection procedure (no minimum school-leaving grade): 1. Written application (letter of motivation, CV in table form, internship certificate). 2. Personal selection procedure with two in-depth personal interviews and 3 semi-standardised multiple mini interviews. Applicants for the Master’s degree course must also complete a test of knowledge. The tuition fees can be pre-financed via the reversed generation contract.
