Special features regarding teaching

CORE - COMPETENCE ORIENTED RESEARCH & EDUCATION We believe that sustainable learning is only possible if there is enough room for experimentation, play and critical questions. That is why we have completely redesigned the classic degree course. You will study in 5-week blocks and work on practical tasks in small teams. You then take an exam on the course material of the past weeks and receive continuous performance feedback throughout the entire degree course. University lecturersare there to assist you as individual learning coaches.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The international orientation is reflected, on the one hand, in the intercultural student body (particularly in the Master’s programmes) and on the other hand in the international orientation of webinars, trade fairs and conferences or the annual interdisciplinary summer school. Students are explicitly encouraged to write final theses in cooperation with international universities, funded by Erasmus or Erasmus+. Some of the extracurricular events, such as hackathons and webinars, are also international and funded by third parties.

Special features regarding the equipment

The faculty has a well-equipped water laboratory and a workshop for use in projects such as prototyping. The facilities are also available to students for uses that go beyond the activities specified in the curriculum. Trained staff are available to assist in the water laboratory and in the workshop. A PC laboratory can also be used to ensure access to all standard software. Specific software packages such as SPSS, Minitab, Matlab or SuperPro Designer are also available to students.

Special features regarding research and development

The network Democratia-Aqua-Technica focuses on the development of innovative solutions for sustainable water resource management to promote reduction of regional and local conflicts and civil society involvement. This research project is international in scope and connects students as well as teachers of several universities in an international context. Further research focus is on the sustainability of the real estate industry (membership of the ECORE Scientific Advisory Board).

Support for founders

The university has a start-up institute that advises and supports students who set up their own company and operates on three levels: teaching, support and networking. This offer is aimed at students and graduates up to five years after graduation, but also at employees of SRH University Heidelberg.
