Special features regarding teaching

Our degree courses have close links with companies in the region. This has many advantages. From the first semester, students have contacts with industry and get to know potential employers at an early stage. Practicals are not only held in the university's own laboratories, but also directly in the companies. The programme includes company tours, mentoring by specialists and executives, lecture series with experts from industry as well as project work. The campus is very intimate and friendly, and the professors and staff have time for the students.

Special features regarding the international orientation

As partner to many globally active companies in the region we are able to offer a wide range of practical semesters abroad via the local companies. Students have already successfully completed semesters in Scotland and Australia. The university's International Center has a representative on the Tuttlingen campus who helps students in Tuttlingen organise their periods abroad.

Special features regarding the equipment

The site has a modern design and modern equipment. Blackboard have given way to electronic smart boards and monitors everywhere - from lecture halls to student workrooms. The university's seminar rooms are available to students 24/7 while they are not used for teaching purposes. Students also have access to workrooms and PC pools. The PC pools offer access to special software, the library focuses on e-books and e-journals on the scale of major universities and has top-class databases for research.

Special features regarding research and development

Research projects in the field of simulation, e-mobility and automation technology. Some research work is carried out by students. There are currently few third-party funded projects. However, several are being applied for. Since June 2018, the Tuttlingen campus has been home to the Tuttlingen Innovation and Research Centre of Furtwangen University of Applied Sciences, which offers the best conditions for applied research activities. The department is also involved in the university-wide research project CohMed (Connected Health in Medical Mountains).

Support for founders

The aim of the Innovation and Research Centre (IFC) Tuttlingen of the Furtwangen University of Applied Sciences is to strengthen the region and regional companies by linking partners research, development and innovation, and to promote business start-ups. The IFC offers start-ups office and laboratory facilities at discounted conditions, among other things. In addition, various publicly funded projects are currently under way offering students, employees and professors a wide range of support services.

Other special features

Tuttlingen is primarily known as a business location of numerous world market leaders. But athletes, wellness fans, culture lovers and night owls also get their money's worth here. This is partly due to its location in the Upper Danube Valley, and its proximity to Lake Constance and the Alps. But the region also has above-average cultural and leisure offerings.
