Special features regarding teaching

In the practice-integrated course, students are employed throughout the study period by a company. As a result, they grow into the company from the start and can combine academic training with professional practice. The goal is to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired in practice and vice versa. The degree programme offers a wide range of options (specialisations, elective modules). The company portal gives an overview of cooperating companies and available internships.

Special features regarding the international orientation

At the Minden Campus, there are regular informational events for students about "Work placements and studies abroad" by the Foreign Students Office. The International Office in Bielefeld is open to all students for guidance on short visits, work placements and foreign programmes. Information is provided online at: http://www.fh-bielefeld.de/internationales. Furthermore, a number of practice-integrated companies offer periods abroad during the practical phases. Individual modules use lectures by international experts, and networks are presented.

Special features regarding the equipment

In the new building, the Minden Campus has modern laboratory workstations with measuring equipment for design engineers. A complete system with PCB milling machine, assembler and soldering device are available to allow students to build circuits and circuit boards themselves. There is also a modern EMC laboratory with absorber chamber and measurement technology for use in measuring and analysing electromagnetic compatibility into the GHz range for teaching and research. The library has an extensive range of databases on standards and scientific articles.

Special features regarding research and development

The Minden Campus department is mainly involved in application-oriented research and development. The research work is generally carried out with partners such as companies, associations or public institutions. The aim is to generate research results that support the innovation activities of the partners and that can be transferred to application in the short term. Key areas of research are intelligent systems (in buildings) and electromagnetic compatibility. Research in the field of EMC is also included in international standardisation.

Support for founders

The Center for Entrepreneurship (CFE) is a university-wide point of contact for all those at Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences interested in starting a business; the university offers active support through all phases of starting a business. Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences promotes the active transfer of knowledge and thus professional self-employment as an essential career option for students and academic staff. Spin-offs from the university are actively supported and looked after. This is how practical applications are found for innovative ideas, research results and inventions.

Other special features

The practice-integrated courses are designed for small groups, thereby guaranteeing an excellent teacher-student ratio. Our students value the small size of the green campus, the personal atmosphere and the individual guidance offered by professors, instructors and staff. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any personal or technical questions you may have. The Campus Minden department offers excellently equipped laboratories and modern, well-equipped rooms with modern IT in a fully renovated artillery barracks.
