Special features regarding teaching

In the B.A. degree programme, equal proportions of literary, cultural and linguistic training are provided. Intensive integrated language training from entry level (B1 in French, A1 in Italian) to B2.2 or C1.2 or C2.1. Early contact at the professor level, already in the first semester. High share of interactive teaching and teaching in the mode of research-based learning. Project seminars with a decisive practical relevance (political-social problems and cultural life in the target countries). Cooperation with the events of the France Centre CFF and the Italy Centre.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Particularly prominent here is the double-Master’s-degree programme with the University of Trento. It is based on a theory-practice model that permits different areas of focus. These can range from philological, linguistic and cultural studies to historical and philosophical debates. The knowledge acquired from an interdisciplinary and intercultural perspective, expressed in two degrees, takes future-oriented and labour market-oriented concerns into account.

Special features regarding the equipment

The university library at TU Dresden provides students of the various disciplines with a broad selection of topic-specific databases. The Faculty of Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies works in well-equipped, modern classrooms: Microphones, projectors, whiteboards, equipment for hybrid teaching, well-equipped professorships with computers, laptops and other computer tools; Regular supervision of the facilities by people in charge in the area and faculty

Other special features

An outstanding feature of IfR in Dresden is that it is one of the institutes in which Italian is offered sustainably and in an appealing variety (native speaker as lecturer, regular lecturer from the embassy, double Master’s degree with Trento, linkage with the Italian tradition of the city of Dresden, Italy Centre with regular lectures by Italian guests). Another special feature is the activities of the France Centre (close ties to France, not least at the level of the younger generation, opening up to Africa).
