A wide range of study offers with numerous bachelor's and master's degree programmes and a variety of possible combinations; Full integration of key research areas into teaching (interdisciplinary, e.g. history of ideas, literary studies and art theory); Full participation in the introductory and orientation course EinS@FU to support students in their choice of subject; Promotion and support of student initiatives and projects in all teaching and learning processes. Numerous interdisciplinary collaborative projects in which philosophy, the humanities, history and cultural sciences conduct joint research from historical and systematic perspectives, e.g. in the EXC 2020 Temporal Communities Cluster of Excellence, in the SFBs Epistemes in Movement, Affective Societies, and Intervening Arts, and in the Cinepoetics Research Group; The research activities link minor and major subjects with one another and are directly integrated into teaching; The Dahlem Humanities Center ensures international networking and visibility of research across disciplines.

Support for founders

The FU has a central service facility for the promotion of start-ups. Students, researchers and alumni are supported in developing application ideas for their research, founding start-ups and spin-offs, and exploiting research results together with established companies.

Other special features

Academics and institutions of the department and the FU Berlin are integrated into a large network of nationally and internationally renowned academics as well as artists and creative professionals, which offers students throughout Germany unique opportunities to get to know the relevant people in everyday university life, e.g. in lectures organised by the Dahlem Humanities Center, workshops (including with authors and artists) or lecture series in the "Open Lecture Hall", and to establish contacts.
