Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

Wide range of courses (fields of movement, excursions, etc.); Flexible academics (with lectures offered in the summer and winter semesters); Small group sizes (max. 20) for sport practice; Research internships (hands-on); Didactics lab; Intensive initial study phase; Project cooperation with instructors and schools, centres for school teacher training, the Münster regional government, the North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of Schools and Continuing Education (several cooperation partners for events and projects); Special partnerships for designing and organising practical semesters.

Special features regarding the international orientation

IFS offers courses for students and employees. The aim is to further develop and link the areas of study, teaching, research, administration and individual skills The IFS focuses on expanding and intensifying research contacts in English-speaking countries abroad, with the Benelux countries, Japan, China, and Korea. The student exchange seeks to create opportunities for work placements and study abroad. We currently cooperate with 36 foreign universities.

2013 New athletics stadium and throwing area as well as conversion of former tennis courts into multi-purpose, roller sport and cage football field; New construction of two floodlight systems; 2012–2014 Renewal of the flooring, window front, ceiling, lighting and ventilation in the university sports hall; 2014 Renewal of three tennis courts; 2012 Construction of a new multi-purpose hall with integrated large-scale movement laboratory; 2017 Comprehensive renovation of the athletics hall.

Special features regarding research activities

Movement laboratory, media laboratory; intensive networking and involvement in research contexts within and outside of the university (research training group, CeNos, OCC, CEBIS etc.); the joint subject of Sport is worked on by the scientific disciplines, the social and behavioural sciences right through to the humanities with their very different and specific methodical research approaches; three key areas that are being worked on: Education, Health and Expertise.
