Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

Sport is taught on the basis of research and practical application in order to prepare students for their professional careers. Students can obtain a number of additional qualifications during their studies, including trainer licences. A wide range of sports is offered, with a focus on natural sports given the university's location. The number of first-year students is limited, so that events can take place in small groups. Students receive individual and personal support. The study offer is evaluated at regular intervals.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

The MSc course in Sport Science for Health has a strong interdisciplinary research orientation. The entire degree programme is offered in English for international students. Small learning groups ensure intensive individual support. Students are encouraged to contribute their own research ideas. The University of Constance has an attractive location, which attracts a diverse international student body and promotes intercultural skills. This creates an inspiring environment for outstanding learning and research.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The Sport Science for Health degree programme is internationally oriented and is taught in English. Applications from abroad will be considered in each intake for the winter semester.

Special features regarding the equipment

Sports Science operates the "Human Performance Research Centre" and has several research laboratories as well as various outdoor facilities (tennis, track and field, water sports, beach volleyball, climbing, high ropes course, low ropes course, half pipe), a triple sports hall and a dance studio which can also be used for martial arts. The facilities correspond with international standards. In addition, Sports Science offers training opportunities in the university's weight room and fitness studio through cooperation with university sport.

Special features regarding research activities

Sports science explores the research focus "Movement, Performance and Health" from a social, behavioural and scientific perspective. In addition to focus areas in sports psychology, sports motor skills and training science, the emphasis is on an interdisciplinary approach that connects the individual work groups. Current research projects look at environment-related levels of activity, motivation and volition of sports activities and the development of training measures to improve physical performance.

Other special features

Sports Science uses a modern research infrastructure and innovative teaching formats (digital and analogue), which are supported by the University of Konstanz, a University of Excellence.
