Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

A broad spectrum of teaching and learning methods is used in all degree courses: A combination of lectures/seminars/exercises is used to impart basic knowledge. Seminar parts are deepened through lecture content (e.g. through simulation tasks, practical implementation of exercises/teaching/learning situations). Likewise, project and problem-related teaching and learning methods are used.; Blended/e-learning.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

Collaborations with rehabilitation clinics in the MSc. KSS practical-oriented seminars with patient contact on the premises of the clinics with the participation of clinical staff.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Degree programmes as well as the MSc in Clinical Sports Therapy and Sports Physiology and especially the English-speaking MSc in Human Movement Analytics - Biomechanics, Motor Control, and Learning, are in demand by numerous foreign students. Furthermore, new Erasmus cooperation agreements have been concluded in the past years.

Special features regarding the equipment

The institute has its own swimming pool, a games, sports and gymnastics hall and extensive outdoor facilities (track and field athletics, beach and tennis facilities, artificial pitch). All sports facilities are located in the immediate vicinity of the classrooms in our own connected campus. In the multi-functional building there is a Motor Skills lab and power room, in the main building there is a campus lecture hall and a PC room with 25 workstations. There is also a Performance Physiology laboratory and a Biomedical laboratory unit with Molecular Analysis and Cell Culture.

Special features regarding research activities

Research topics cover the range from competitive sports to school/teaching-related issues to health-related topics. For this, a variety of investigative methods are used which are practised as part of the training. One focus is on cognitive, bio-scientific and neuroscientific orientation with a natural sciences experimental research approach. Significant involvement in two major projects with Psychology. Research projects in cooperation with associations (e.g. DLV), institutions (e.g. Olympiastützpunkt Westfalen) and hospitals (including UKGM).
