Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

Special features of the sports economy are interdisciplinarity (sports / business administration / law), innovative ability and a distinct network concept. In Sports Economics, references to sports management are taken into account. A work placement is compulsory, and it is often spent abroad. In the teaching qualification for sport, special professional field-related courses (teaching exercises for school classes, project seminars, internship semesters) are offered. Many students complete a semester abroad.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

Special features of Sports Economics and Sports Technology are interdisciplinarity (sports / business administration / law or sports / engineering), innovative ability and a distinct network concept. In Sports Economics, references to sports management are taken into account. A work placement is compulsory, and it is often spent abroad. Experts from the industry are involved in Sports Technology. In the teaching qualification for sport, special professional field-related courses (teaching exercises for school classes, project seminars, internship semesters) are offered. Many students complete a semester abroad.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Selective double-degree programme with Ohio University (worldwide pioneering program in sports management, since the 1960s; Bayreuth: first European degree programme in sports economics, 1985); many BScSpOec students complete a voluntary semester abroad; generous crediting practice to promote internationalisation; numerous English-language courses by guest professors (block); selected English-language courses in the master's degree; study abroad (block credit of 19 ECTS) and internship abroad (14 ECTS) in the MSc entry module; international certificates.

Special features regarding the equipment

Students have access to a triple games room, gymnastics hall, weight training and fitness room, athletics facilities, four grass pitches, six tennis courts, all-weather pitch, two beach volleyball courts, body weight station. For courses and final theses, Movement Science and Sports Medicine labs (spiroergometry, BIA, blood volume determination, biomechanical measurements, such as 3D cinematography, EMG, IMU, ACC, motion capturing, force measurement) can be used. In addition, students have access to business and legal databases as well as a laboratory for conducting experiments

Special features regarding research activities

The results of research from sports science, business administration and law are incorporated into suitable courses, e.g. Evaluation of a Model for Talent Identification, Technical Training for the Development of Playing Skills in Game Sports. Core areas: talent research, public health & sport, corporate health management, medical anti-doping research, sports didactics and education, sports governance, event & fan research, sports services, sports consumer behaviour, and sports sponsorship law. Sustainability, 3D printing, lightweight construction, innovative applications in the field of sports technology.
