Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

The degree courses have a strong orientation towards nursing and health sciences. Students from all nursing settings gain practical nursing experience and systematically reflect on them against the background of the theoretical content of the courses. The degree course can be completed as a career-integrated course. Courses are reliability taught on study days.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

The degree course focuses on research and development in nursing science contexts. Potential interdisciplinary cooperation should also be taken into account. Another focus area is the systematic transfer of nursing science knowledge and innovations into nursing practice, as well as quality development and evaluation. Courses are reliability taught on study days.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The faculty focuses on a concept for internationalisation. International networking is predominantly created through research and the programmes of a summer school or winter school with foreign partner universities. The students are systematically included in these activities. In the Nursing courses, a strong sense of "internationalisation at home" is promoted. In almost all modules, international knowledge and international concepts/projects, etc. are incorporated into the teaching.

Exchange universities for stay abroads

Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Argentinien; Karel de Grote Hogeschool, Belgien; Via University College, Dänemark; Jyväskylän Ammattikorkeakoulu (JAMK), Finnland; Libera Università di Bolzano - Freie Universität Bozen, Italien; Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), Mexiko; Berner Fachhochschule, Schweiz; XAMK South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences, Finnland; Universidad de Jaén, Spanien; University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA

Special features regarding the equipment

All lecture rooms are modern and equipped with multimedia. Not only the lecturers, but also the students can use the supplementary technical support for teaching at any time. In addition, there are three computer rooms and other learning units. Teachers and students have access to a virtual teaching and learning platform. Teachers and students have access to extensive databases and a large amount of electronically available literature through the university library.

Special features regarding research and development

Under the umbrella of the Institute for Health and Nursing Sciences, numerous research projects are continuously carried out in the fields of nursing & health, nursing & technology and nursing education.

Other special features

The faculty has very good links with regional industry. On the one hand, there is a regular semester meeting in the institution with representatives from industry and university and, on the other hand, a number of practitioners work as assistant professors at the university. The professors of the faculty regularly and systematically visit industry institutions in the region. It is also important to us to work closely with institutions of training and continuing education in the form of research projects, student projects and practical semester.
