You can choose your personal focus from a wide range of work areas in Population Geography, Cultural Geography, Urban Geography, Economic Geography, Landscape Ecology, Hydrology, Coastal Geography, Remote Sensing or Geographic Information Systems.

Building on the philosophy of "future-oriented spatial development – Geography research and teaching for society and the environment", it positions itself as an applied and integrative scientific discipline for the conflicting priorities of environment, industry and society. Research focuses: Global change and hazard research, transformation processes in emerging economies, urban and regional development, education for sustainable development.
