Special features regarding research activities

Geosciences in Freiburg have a strong research tradition. Thematic key areas and unique features are in the field of Impact Geology/Planetary Geology, Quaternary Geology and Geochronology, Mathematical Geosciences, Materials Sciences as well as in the field of Geochemistry and Petrology. The Geosciences are members of the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources. This results in particular potential in the area of Environmental Science. The Geosciences are closely linked with various Fraunhofer institutes due to cooperations.
