Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

In addition to teaching at the Eichstätt site, the subject is internationally focused. To this end, students are encouraged to attend courses abroad at a partner university and to acquire additional skills. In the higher semesters of the bachelor's degree, students are involved in employees' current research projects, depending on their interests.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

The faculty has a distinctly international focus. This is evidenced by – in addition to common standards such as the integration of English literature in teaching, attendance at international conferences, etc. – among other things, a stay abroad at a partner university and the option of a dual degree in the Master TRP, the high presence of international guest professors, the many years of guest lectures offered by international lecturers in the Space-Economy-Society lecture series (acquisition of ECTS possible) or excursions. In addition, there are various offerings available from the International Office of KU.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The subject has a distinctly international focus. This is evidenced – in addition to usual standards such as the integration of English literature in teaching, attendance at international conferences, etc. – by stays abroad at partner universities and the option to complete a double master's degree programme in TRP, the large number of visiting professors, the long-standing offer of guest lectures by international speakers in the Space-Economy-Society series of lectures (students can earn credit points) and excursions. In addition, the International Office of the KU has many other offerings.

Special features regarding the equipment

The subject is perfectly equipped in terms of infrastructure: Departmental computer room with extensive state-of-the-art equipment in the field of GIS (ArcGIS, SAGA, Cloud Compare, Riscan, LIS), remote sensing, statistics, media; departmental Geo lab, terrestrial laser scanner, dGPS, tachymeters, UAV/drones for aerial photography, all-terrain vehicles; departmental Geomedia lab enables the execution of audio-visual projects and the production of films. There are two cartography workstations with state-of-the-art equipment for the production of graphic products, maps and books.

Special features regarding research activities

The research of the department focuses on the areas of Leisure and Tourism, Environmental Processes and Natural Hazards, Global Justice and Sustainability in international research . Additional key areas are wetlands research and geographic development research, as well as the topics of regional development, entrepreneurship, finance/financialization. Members of the department hold important roles In the scientific community in the field of research and management, research and are renowned through numerous national and international publications.
