The department of Computer Science has an international focus. Courses in the Bachelor's degree programmes are taught bilingually. The Master's degree programmes are aimed at German and international students and are taught in English.

Special features regarding the equipment

14 rooms with 170 computer workstations (eight Windows pools and five Linux pools). Pool of 30 laptops; The computer pools and computer workstations are available to students to carry out their assignments. In addition to standard programmes for word processing and program development, software products from the fields of mathematics/numerics (e.g. MATLAB, Maple, Mathcad), CAD (e.g. AutoCAD, So-lidWorks), CAE/FEM/CFD (e.g. Abaqus, Ansys, Comsol, LS-Dyna, Fluent, Starccm +), chemistry (e.g. Turbomole) and other areas are available for use in engineering applications.

Special features regarding research activities

Research from the areas of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics unifies the institute in the research topics of Energy Engineering, Cyber-Physical Systems, Data Science, Medical Technology as well as Modelling, Simulation and Optimisation. The research is funded by the DFG, BMBF, industry, etc.
