Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

Mathematics gap courses taught by teaching staff with a doctorate as an aid for students with lower admission scores or as a basic requirement for attending the foundational classes in the bachelor's degree programme in computer science; in addition, an increased range of tutorials by qualified tutors; Special preparation for theoretical computer science content.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

Thematic focus in the master's degree with great freedom of choice with regard to courses taken; Choice of a given major (e.g. software development, computational intelligence and data analytics, informatics for society, environmental informatics, energy informatics) or students can design their own major.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Planned time window in the Bachelor's degree programme for a semester abroad (5th semester); Can be done at any time in the Master's degree programme.

Special features regarding the equipment

Around 60 workstations (file server plus multiprocessor systems) are available in the department for use in project and dissertation work in both courses of study. There is also a large number of WiFi workstations for notebooks, plus high-performance computers (e.g. AI and 3D applications). Standard off-the-shelf mini robots available for applications and programming in the field of Mobile Autonomous Robotics.

Special features regarding research activities

Project for the development of academic-economic excellence for the ITeG Research Centre. A "communication paradigm" is being researched and formulated: Binding rules that enable work-life balance in the Internet age.

Other special features

Cooperation between the computer science subject areas and the DAAD Master's degree programme "Electrical Communication Engineering" in Department 16; StiP (studies in combination with practical experience) for Bachelor's/Master's degree programmes; Computer Science also partners with the IEE (Fraunhofer) Institute for Energy Economics and Energy System Technology.
