Special features regarding teaching

Carried out in accordance with the Regulations for the Licensing of Pharmacists (AAppO). The degree programme is not modular. Instead, it concludes with state examinations.

Special features regarding the international orientation

There are postgraduate exchange opportunities with renowned universities in the USA, Australia, Sweden, Italy, and China. International postgraduate exchange opportunities are also provided by the Erasmus programme. There are visiting professorships for colleagues from all over the world, as well as visiting professorships for Jena pharmacy professors abroad (e.g. Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA).

Special features regarding the equipment

Cleanroom for aseptic work or drug production; Nanotechnology; Access to state-of-the-art bioanalytical and cellular-biological methods/equipment, also for use in student teaching (fluorescence microscope, UPLC triple quadrupole mass spectrometer, flow cytometer, capillary electrophoresis). Access to equipment at the Jena Centre for Soft Matter.

Special features regarding research activities

Pharmacy in Jena is characterised by large third-party funding, in particular DFG funding and very high per capita publication output of the professors. There is intensive integration of coordinated research associations: Collaborative Research Centre 1127 "ChemBioSys", Collaborative Research Centre 1278 "Polytarget", DFG Research Group 1406, DFG Research Training Group 1715, International Leibniz Research School Microbial Interactions (ILRS); Excellence Graduate School, Jena School for Microbial Communication. Nationwide expertise in lipidomics and research in the field of "gender pharmacy".

Other special features

The University of Jena takes its social responsibility on current topics such as sustainability and diversity seriously. The university's Green Office supports all processes with a view to sustainability. The Diversity Office provides central contact persons for anti-discrimination counselling. Furthermore, the university curates its own course catalogue with events related to gender, diversity and sustainability.
