Special features regarding teaching

Integration of key research areas in teaching, e.g. lecture on marine biotechnology; Students gain expertise by listening to speakers, e.g. senior hospital physicians in the pathology lecture; Appropriate examination preparation, e.g. student tutorials to prepare for the first section of the pharmaceutical examination, representation of all examination-relevant pharmaceutical course components by full professors.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Research work in the Diploma degree course can be carried out abroad (e.g. Australia, New Zealand, UK, USA); funding can be obtained through the EU Erasmus+ programme.

Special features regarding the equipment

In 2011, a new research building was moved into which brings together the departments of Pharmacology, Biopharmacy/Pharmaceutical Technology and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology in the Centre of Drug Absorption and Transport (C_DAT). In 2014, Pharmaceutical Biology, Pharmaceutical/Medical Chemistry (incl. Pharmaceutical Bioanalysis and Clinical Pharmacy) moved into the second part of the new building. Now the Institute of Pharmacy not only has new, state-of-the-art facilities, but also a technically highly demanding pool of equipment for teaching and research at its disposal.

Special features regarding research activities

High level of networking; Participation in various national and international interdisciplinary collaborative projects with microbiology, plasma physics, pharmacology, cardiology, transfusion medicine on issues of the pathogenicity of bacteria, immune responses in the cardiovascular area, effect of low-pressure plasma on the organism, functional genome research, drug absorption and transport, complementary cancer therapy; Numerous cooperations with industry; Good international contacts.
