Special features regarding teaching

The Pharmacy course in Erlangen is characterised by its high academic demands and the close supervision of students. This applies to both the personal contact between teaching staff and students, as well as the support by student Tutorials and the individual guidance our students receive from the study coordinator or the dean of studies. The comprehensive courses are organised in such a way that our students can successfully complete the course within the standard period of study of eight semesters.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The international orientation is reflected in both the global cooperation with numerous international research institutions as well as the many international guest lecturers. In addition, the department has many Erasmus partnerships with internationally renowned universities.

Special features regarding the equipment

Pharmacy in Erlangen is equipped with state-of-the-art scientific equipment which meets the highest standards in teaching and research. Medical Chemistry: High-field NMR (600 MHz), LC-MS analysis, UHPLC-MS-MS, high-resolution MS, synthesis machines, high-performance computers, Plate Reader, Biacore; Pharmaceutical Technology: Pilot plant for drug manufacturing, particle formation processes, freeze dryer, spray dryer, acoustic levitator, protein analysis; Molecular and clinical pharmacy: Calcium imaging, patch clamp, biochemical, pharmacological and molecular-biological assays.

Special features regarding research activities

The Erlangen university lecturers in Pharmacy are internationally recognised scientists in the fields of Medical Chemistry, Molecular and Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Technology, Food Chemistry as well as the adjacent disciplines of Chemistry, Biology and Medical Sciences. Pharmacy students in Erlangen learn about the diverse research content during the course of their studies in research internships as well as in lectures and seminars.
