Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

The faculty stands out for its practical teaching through state-of-the-art special laboratories. The faculty and its teaching methods are developed to meet the region's needs and take account of future economic and social topics. Among other things, students are given optimal preparation to meet the challenge of digitalisation. The faculty uses various forms of teaching and learning with the help of digitalisation as well as a skills-based approach to teaching. Students also have the flexibility to structure their studies themselves (elective offerings).

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

The faculty stands out for its practical teaching through state-of-the-art special laboratories. Special features regarding the international orientation

Aalen University is firmly anchored in the region and has extensive international networks. This can be seen in exchange programmes, double degrees, etc. Both study and practical placements abroad are supported financially. For incoming students, i.e. foreign students who want to study in Aalen for a limited time, there are special programs to support them, especially in terms of language. In addition, there is a professor who promotes internationalisation in the faculty.

Special features regarding the equipment

The department operates several computer pools that are equipped with the MS-Windows, Apple-OS X and Linux operating systems. Virtualisation tools enable the opportunity to use special systems. The laboratories contain technical equipment such as NVidia DGX Station, cryptography and hacking equipment, (technical) internet-based systems, software engineering, image processing, virtual reality, etc. Pools such as laboratories are upgraded regularly and kept up to date. The Aalen University library offers university-wide access to subject-specific databases.

Currently, a lot of research is being done in the area of IT security, AI, ; data science and big data.
