Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

Teaching takes place primarily in the form of seminars and in small groups. The aim is to empower students to act and to help them develop science-based power of judgement as the basis for their professional careers. Teaching primarily takes place on two blocked study days a week. 95% of students complete the course in the standard period of study. In addition to a good teacher-student ratio, the faculty stands out for its range of teaching methods ensuring high student engagement and its good digital equipment.

Special features regarding the international orientation

As part of mobility windows during the placement and the writing of the Bachelor's or the Master's thesis, students have the option of doing a stay abroad. As part of this, the Faculty of Healthcare at the KatHO NRW offers individual practice support for students who cannot attend the accompanying courses to the placements due to a study semester abroad or a work placement within Germany. The Applied Nursing Sciences degree programme offers the chance to complete a practical semester.

In addition to the expansion of the functions of the ILIAS platform and the campus portal in the context of digital teaching and learning formats and the possibilities for online video conferencing, all seminar rooms and lecture halls have been technically upgraded (against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic) to carry out hybrid courses with low in-person attendance and students connected remotely.
