Close integration of teaching and research; Method-oriented training through laboratory practicals starting in the first semester, laboratory space is guaranteed.; Increased focus on Molecular Biology; Interdisciplinary knowledge transfer by linking teaching among the natural sciences departments; The degree programme can be individually tailored through preference module and optional courses.; Biological Teaching Collection; Exercises and tutorials in many subjects. Starting in winter semester 24/25, joint orientation course "Go.MINt" of the Departments of Biology/Chemistry/Computer Science/Mathematics/Physics.

Master's degree course taught in English; Students can apply to specialise in the areas of "Disease Biology", "Cellular & Molecular Biology" and "Ecology, Evolution & Behaviour". Research focuses: Molecular biology-oriented cell biology, chemical biology, basic biomedical research as well as ecology, evolution and behaviour. Close cooperation with other departments: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Psychology, etc.; Research networks, Clusters of Excellence; networking with the Max Planck Institute for Behavioural Biology and the Biotechnology Institute in Thurgau.
