Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

The BSc degree programme in Biology offers broadly based training in which students obtain a diverse range of competencies. In the first section of the degree course, students learn basic principles, for example, through a newly created basic module on which the later modules are based. In the second section, students can choose a specialisation from a wide range of compulsory elective modules and write a bachelor's thesis on current issues in one of the subject areas. Students gain professional perspectives through a professional internship and seminars in the field.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

In the first year of the MSc degree course in Biology, students gain an insight into all subject areas as part of laboratory rotations. Then students have the flexibility to combine compulsory elective modules in the specialisations of "Molecular Biology of the Cell" or "Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology". This concept creates the perfect balance between cohort formation within the class and individuated studies with a wide range of specialisation options. Practical relevance is guaranteed by a internship integrated the degree programme.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The BSc and MSc degree programmes promote internationality through a mobility window provided for in the course plan, and both programmes recognise credits earned abroad. Financial support for study visits and work placements abroad can be applied for as part of a scholarship.
