Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

The bachelor's degree programmes offer a broad range of courses, a significant practical component and extensive elective options. Scientific English is required in preparation for international master's degree programmes. Courses taken during the bachelor's degree offer connections with non-university research institutions, such as the German Primate Centre or Max Planck Institutes.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

The master's degree programmes are have an international, research-oriented focus, offer a large number of work placements with one-on-one supervision and independent work on individual research projects. By establishing important non-university institutions on the Göttingen campus (European Neuroscience Institute, German Primate Centre, various Max Planck Institutes), students have access to a very research-oriented environment in which they gain insights and are integrated early on in their studies.

Special features regarding the international orientation

7 English-language Master´s degree programme; wide range of partner universities for semesters abroad; various short-term mobility opportunities (summer/winter schools or blended intensive programmes) as part of ENLIGHT

Special features regarding the equipment

Central microscopy system; Göttingen Service Unit for Metabolomics and Lipidomics; Service unit LCMS Protein Analysis; Collection of algae cultures (EPSAG); Comparative collections of Palynology; Anthropological collections; Collections of the Biodiversity Museum

Special features regarding research activities

The Göttingen campus is home to numerous Max Planck Institutes, the European Neurosciences Centre, the German Primate Centre and the University Hospital. This means that life sciences students have a wide range of life and biosciences research at their disposal, in which they can actively participate both as part of their studies (practicals, final theses) and outside of their studies (self-organised work placement, work as an assistant).
