Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

The Biology department (except for the teaching qualification) uses student- and examination-friendly block modules. In addition, very broad-based teaching is offered with an extensive range of optional modules both related to the subject and outside of the subject. There is individual supervision with a variety of guidance and support services. The Hermann-Hoffmann Academy promotes the training concept of "Learning through Teaching".

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

The master's degree programme has a significant research focus (participation in research groups). Students can choose a specialisation. Two-thirds of three master's degree programmes are offered in cooperation with other departments or universities to increase the interdisciplinary approach.

Special features regarding the international orientation

In addition to a joint English-speaking degree programme with University College Dublin (MSc in Global Change), there are various opportunities for international exchange. The MSc degree courses offer a wide range of English-language modules.
