Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

Computer science at HBRS offers an extremely diverse range of courses with more than 170 courses per semester as the basis for a solid education in theoretical, technical and practical computer science as well as mathematics and, in particular, information security. Specialisations provide students with an opportunity to pursue their interests in-depth. In the master's degree programmes, students can gain broad and comprehensive knowledge and develop their profile in specialised degree programmes (autonomous systems, visual computing and games technology).

Special features regarding the international orientation

Global network of partner universities; "Intercultural Competence" certificate; Particularly attractive is the close partnership with three Canadian universities, which includes an agreement on the mutual waiver of tuition fees. With the Master's degree programme in Autonomous Systems, H-BRS offers an English-speaking programme that is very popular internationally. In addition to the university-wide International Office, the Department of Computer Science supports its students with its own International Affairs team (customised solutions for studies abroad).

Special features regarding the equipment

The Computer Science department is housed in modern and attractive facilities. The technical equipment is kept up to date on a continual basis. Laboratories and pool rooms (approx. 100 workstations) offer very good technical working conditions. Multimedia-equipped lecture halls, workspaces for groups and quiet workspaces afford a modern and individual teaching and learning environment. In addition to a wide range of media resources, the university and regional library on campus offers very good support for academic work and research.

Other special features

The Language Centre offers students a wide range of general and subject-specific language courses, language tests, writing workshops (German/English) and much more. A ServicePoint, run by students for students is available to students and lecturers for questions relating to their degree programme and technology. In the study workshop, students can receive study support from trained student tutors. The Free Software Lab for students allows for the use of free and open software and also offers helpful services for students and non-students alike.
