Special features regarding teaching

Small group and semester sizes, good support, informal atmosphere; Digital equipment: Simodont dental simulators, CAD-CAM systems, intraoral cameras, educational network, digital patient records only. Blended learning concept, awarded the @ward 2022 (award for multimedia teaching and learning at Martin Luther University).

Special features regarding the international orientation

Cooperation in the area of clinical studies with the Universities of Zurich (Switzerland) and Clermont-Ferrand (France) (dentine hypersensitivity), the University of Minneapolis Minnesota (research into quality of life and adhesive technology), cooperation with the University of Vienna in the area of paediatric dentistry, cooperation with the University of Aarhus in the area of dental biofilms.

Special features regarding the equipment

Comprehensive access to the core facility of the Faculty of Medicine. State-of-the-art digital equipment: Simodonts, CAD/CAM systems (design workstations, intraoral and desktop scanners, 3D printers, milling machines, etc.), intraoral cameras, oral microscopes, educational network. Currently joint large-scale procurement of the ZMK department (high-resolution Micro-CT scanner, modern hybrid dentistry simulation room).

Special features regarding research activities

Extensive clinical trial experience: Filling therapy, dentine hypersensitivity and cariology; Projects on genetic and epigenetic risk factors for parodontopathies; Interaction of periodontitis and complex diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, rheumatic diseases, and Crohn's disease; Molecular oncology projects; Biphosphonate-associated necrosis; Oral health-related quality of life; Paediatric dentistry (molar incisor hypomineralisation), cooperation projects with geriatrics (senior dentistry), care for patients after tumour therapy, materials research.

Other special features

Very good integration in the Faculty of Medicine. Central campus, good connections in the city, good accessibility for students and patients. Sustainability Working Group UMH. Highly endowed teaching and project prizes of the faculty.
