Special features regarding teaching

A large number of optional continuing and continuing education courses, as well as study trips. Individual support for students, e.g. "Coffee and Learning" – optional early meeting.

Special features regarding the international orientation

In order to promote the international exchange of dental students, there is a cooperation agreement with the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in the USA. As a part of the ERASMUS programme, exchange places are also available at the following university locations: New Castle, Oviedo, Szczecin and Zagreb.

Special features regarding the equipment

State-of-the-art preclinical facilities with 45 interconnected, combined simulation and technical workstations that meet all requirements for dentistry work simulation, and 2 tutoring workstations with a surgical microscope and camera for image and sound transmission, interchangeable trays for surgical work simulation on preparations (e.g. suture technology or implant insertion), simulation of all work processes for hygienisation (Pershing, etc.), intraoral scanner and 5-axis milling machine for the production of high-quality dental workpieces. Appropriate equipment with IO scanners, milling machine in the clinic.

Special features regarding research activities

The key research areas of the Greifswald university medicine are Community Medicine/Dentistry as well as Molecular Medicine. The complementary application in a "Greifswald Approach to Individualized Medicine" (GANI_MED) enables progress in the individualisation of treatment and prevention concepts. Greifswald Dentistry researches the complex correlations between oral health and general health and illness. A second research strand is concerned with "Digital Dentistry (CAD/CAM)".
