Special features regarding teaching

Continuous further development of teaching and proof of academic achievement by the al and al Curriculum Committees or the Medical Examination Board with very active and appreciative involvement of students; Students can use the learning support platform ANVIL and the MEDI-LEARN video courses free of charge for intensive preparation for the first, second and third sections of the medical examination.; End-of-semester meetings as a reflective evaluation tool for the individual semesters in the preclinical and clinical study phases.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The department maintains cooperation and exchange agreements with the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru and Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. Cooperation with the N. Lopatkin Scientific Research Institute in Moscow, Russia is suspended. Furthermore, an existing university cooperation agreement with the University of Bursa (Turkey) will be expanded to the Faculty of Medicine. A new cooperation with the Universidad de La Frontera Temuco (Chile) has been initiated with an MOU (memorandum of understanding).

Special features regarding research activities

Research focuses: Cardiopulmonary system, mechanisms of perception and adaptation, infections, inflammation and active ingredients, animal welfare and the 3Rs, digital medicine (eHealth and telemedicine), oncology: mechanisms and individualised diagnostics/therapy, reproductive medicine/biology, repair and regeneration. The following exemplify our research strength: leading role in the Cluster of Excellence Cardiopulmonary Institute (together with the University of Frankfurt), extensive third-party funding (DFG, BMBF, EU), headquarters of the German Centre for Lung Research, participation in the German Centre for Infection Research.

Other special features

The Diversity Officer of the Dean's Office is also the contact person for the various support programmes (web search: diversity fb11).
