Special features regarding teaching

A highly motivated team prepares graduates for digital change. Our degree in Business Information Systems in Weingarten offers a balance between traditional Business Administration and Computer Science – with an emphasis on Business Information Systems topics. In addition to the compulsory practice semester, the final project and Bachelor’s thesis are usually created in cooperation with companies from the region. Stays abroad are particularly supported. Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences has 49 partner universities worldwide.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Stays abroad are particularly supported. The university has 49 partner universities worldwide. The Faculty of Business Information Systems has appointed an International Officer for these matters, who advises graduates and answers questions on the entire process. The international office of the university offers multidisciplinary support as well as the language centre CLIC.

Special features regarding the equipment

Up-to-date technical facilities are essential for business informatics. Thus outdated hardware and software is routinely replaced in the laboratories (at least once a semester). The IT infrastructure was completely renewed in summer 2019. Mobile end-devices (e.g. smartphones and tablets) are also part of our labs. We have an extensive Internet of Things infrastructure.

Special features regarding research activities

In 2018, professors founded the Institute of Digital Change. The main driver of this initiative was the Business Information Systems professor Prof. Dr. Wolfram Höpken. The core task of the institute is to promote all research activities in the field of digitalisation. For companies, the institute is a central point of contact on the subject of digitalisation. Joint research projects with companies, contract research and the implementation of student projects and work are coordinated centrally here.

Support for founders

The Faculty of Business Informatics has a special contact point for questions and assistance regarding business start-ups. A regular lecture on business start-ups is also offered. The start-up culture joint study and teaching project is located in our department. At the university there is the student association “kreakt!v”, which advises companies from the region as well as carrying out pro bono projects with start-ups. The start-up lab is a building block for an active start-up culture at the university as part of the GROW project.
