The Institute of Entrepreneurship and Business Development offers students, graduates and university members free advice, e.g. on business models, business plans and financing, as well as regular continuing education with experts from research and business (topics include start-ups, management expertise, entrepreneurial thinking and acting, skills for self-employment). The Institute's workshops are integrated into the curricula of all degree courses in the faculty. The Master's degree course in Industrial Engineering also offers a compulsory elective area.

The cross-cutting theme of sustainability will shape the new English track Industrial Engineering from 2024; The research focus area "Competitive Sustainability" also provides current content for teaching.
