Interdisciplinary research groups in all disciplines, including Applied Business Analytics, Institute of Entrepreneurship and Business Development, Institute of Applied Economics, Competence Centre Logistics and Production. Current areas of focus and development also include digitalisation/AI for SMEs, competitive sustainability, behavioural economics, controlling in cultural institutions, additive manufacturing.

Support for founders

The Institute of Entrepreneurship and Business Development offers students, graduates and university members free advice, e.g. on business models, business plans and financing, as well as regular continuing education with experts from research and business (topics include start-ups, management expertise, entrepreneurial thinking and acting, skills for self-employment). The Institute's workshops are integrated into the curricula of all degree courses in the faculty. The Master's degree course in Industrial Engineering also offers a compulsory elective area.

Other special features

The cross-cutting theme of sustainability will shape the new English track Industrial Engineering from 2024; The research focus area "Competitive Sustainability" also provides current content for teaching. Practice transfer through THL Projekt GmbH (project company) and THL ForschungsGmbH (research company) throughout the university. Faculty’s quality management system has been certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001 since 2005 Strong focus on future skills, among other things through compulsory modules for additive teaching of key skills, e.g. presentation and creativity training in the faculty's own creative space.
