Special features regarding teaching

The course combines theory and practice through special study formats. In addition to the classic course content, one specialisation is on the reflection of theological, ethical and social science dimensions of social work. Thanks to intensive exchange programmes with partner universities in Europe, we have a strong international focus in teaching and research. Other specialisations include: Inclusion of research-driven learning, teaching in manageable seminar units with direct discussion with the lecturers, supervision of the learning process, development and improvement of self-reflexiveness.

Special features regarding the international orientation

We offer a degree programme in International Social Work, which is now enhanced by the dual degree in cooperation with the Newman University Birmingham. In addition, there is an International Week for the Bachelor’s and Master’s in Social Work in the summer semester 2023. The main focus of the Master’s in Social Work: Social Work and Social Change in an International Context. In addition, European and international lecturers are involved in the Master's programme using hybrid methods.

Support for founders

Social Entrepreneurship is covered in Module 1 of the Master's in Social Work. A cross-university symposium took place on the subject in October 2021.

Other special features

The concept of the Career & Counselling Centre at EH is based on an understanding of career as a process and a path. The task is about shaping it. A student’s career starts on the day he or she applies for enrolment; It is the university’s responsibility to equip students well for their future careers in subject-specific and personal terms, as well as to provide interesting ideas for their future careers through qualified courses and services. The university offers suggestions and support to this end.
