Special features regarding teaching

International orientation through a compulsory practice semester abroad and optional study semester abroad as part of the Bachelor's degree; Broad-based education (including technical components) for flexibility in the labour market; Teaching solid academic foundations for lifelong learning; use of simulation games and company simulations; The professors' wide-ranging professional experience is complemented by numerous experienced practitioners as lecturers; Close networking with local industry (final theses, guest lectures, working students) and leading companies

Special features regarding the international orientation

The degree of internationalisation is particularly pronounced at the Department of Economic Sciences. Of the whole university, most students who spend semesters abroad come from this faculty. In the Bachelor's degree course in International Management, a work placement abroad is compulsory and enables students to obtain a double degree. The degree programme Tricontinental Master in Global Studies incorporates two compulsory semesters abroad (one in Taiwan, and one in Mexico). Courses taught in English are offered across the faculty. Other languages may be compulsory, as the case may be.

Special features regarding the equipment

The faculty has a large number of well-equipped teaching labs (e.g. for negotiation techniques, conferencing, lean management, entrepreneurship garage, etc.); All lecture halls are equipped with the latest technology and the faculty has a convenient information system for the organisation of studies, communication and web-based training (InfoTools and ILIAS). Students have access to various databases such as Thomson Reuters Eikon, MyEconLab.

Special features regarding research activities

Good contacts with national and international non-university research institutions, universities and universities of applied sciences; Own article series for the publication of results from research projects and students’ final theses; Numerous well-equipped lab and research areas, research focus areas: Globalisation, Energy Management and Technology, Big Data, Smart Services, Product Development, Entrepreneurship; Cross-faculty research activities.

Support for founders

The faculty has a broad network of companies and incubators in the field of entrepreneurship. Interested students and future business founders have access to an entrepreneurship garage and the X-Lab start-up lab to support start-ups. Compulsory elective subjects such as Design Thinking and Business Modelling are also offered to promote business start-ups.

Other special features

A wide range of support services for students with health problems. Access arrangements are firmly implemented in the Study and Examination Regulations. Support for students with children, such as a "Mobile Kids Box", virtual childcare programme "voiio" (parent-child room is planned), partnership with nurseries regarding the provision of nursery places. The Equal Opportunities Officer and the Equal Opportunities Commission provide support on issues relating to equal opportunities and diversity. "Master Plan 2030+" for the realisation of a climate-positive campus.
