Further information provided by the department

Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

In the field of Practical Computer Science, in particular Programming, Operating Systems and Computer Networks, the FRA UAS has an excellent range of personnel and equipment in comparison with other universities and can, therefore, offer an excellent education. In the Bachelor's degree programme, the "Smart Education in Computer Science" teaching concept is used, which has been awarded the Innovation Prize of the Association for the Promotion of Higher Education and the Hessian University Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

With the SKILL project, we are developing the "ELLE" Centre (Centre for Teaching and Learning), a service unit that drives forward innovative teaching projects. As a technical and administrative platform, ELLE creates the basis for virtual teaching and thus increases the university’s level of maturity for practice-oriented learning and teaching in virtual, location-independent environments. In addition, innovative digital learning formats are developed, the design of which serves as a template for a large number of other courses, including "Design Thinking" and "Data Literacy" in Business Information Systems.

Exchange universities for stay abroads

Sungkyunkwan University, Seoul, Südkorea; Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain; Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul, Brasilien; HØYSKOLEN KRISTIANIA, Oslo, Norwegen; Deakin University, Geelong, Australien; Ewha Womans University, Seoul, Südkorea

Special features regarding the equipment

As part of the "KI-Nachwuchs @FH" project, research and teaching of artificial intelligence (AI) at Frankfurt UAS will be strengthened and interdisciplinary cooperation between different departments in the context of AI will be promoted. In order to provide researchers and teachers with the necessary resources to work with various AI technologies, a server cluster was set up that has very high computing power in the form of graphical processing units. Modern computer laboratory. Use of a powerful virtualisation environment for projects, research activities and teaching.

Special features regarding research and development

The department is home to the Industrial Data Science (INDAS) research groups, network security, information security and data protection, and Mixed Reality Laboratory, as well as the Networks and Distributed Systems Competence Centre.

Other special features

In order to increase the proportion of women in STEM subjects and to enable all students to study well in their diversity, the STEM coordination team under the umbrella of the Equal Opportunities and Diversity Unit and the Women and Equal Opportunities Officer supports equal access to STEM subjects for all genders. The STEM coordination team is committed to a sensitive and encouraging approach to the heterogeneity of students in STEM programmes. It also promotes the development of opportunities for students to network and be inspired.
