Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

The department offers dual-degree options for Bachelor/Master with various international universities. In addition, every year 8–10 international guest lecturers involved in the "Internationalization@home" programme contribute to the curricula in the compulsory elective area. Teaching is very versatile and practice-oriented. Teaching methods such as "inverted classroom" or "just-in-time-teaching" also have their place as seminar teaching with and without video recording; and exercises, practicals and tutorials are offered for almost all modules.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Dual-degree options at the Bachelor's/Master's level with France, New Zealand and Hong Kong. International visiting lecturer programme at the Bachelor's and Master's level. Each year, the university hosts around 8–10 foreign lecturers. Extensive English-taught course of study (approx. 50 credits each semester); Over 80 international partner universities for computer science and mathematics; active programme for international work placements and student exchange with very good recognition of courses taken abroad (approx. 40 outgoing students per year); International student projects.

Exchange universities for stay abroads

Savonia University of Applied Sciences, Finnland; Waterford Institute of Technology, Irland; TU Dublin, Irland; Karlsuniversität, Prag; Tallinn University of Technology, Estland; Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Malaysia; Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), Vietnam; Singapore Institute of Technology, Singapur; Eastern Institute of Technology, Neuseeland; Hong Kong Baptist University, China

Special features regarding the equipment

The faculty has 7 computer rooms and 21 very well equipped teaching and project laboratories. The project laboratories are assigned to individual topics and are largely equipped with specialist and course-related software. A cyclical renewal of the computer equipment and purchase of current software licenses every 5 years.

Other special features

In Computer Science, the topic of sustainability is dealt with in its own courses and will be firmly anchored in the curriculum in the future. This also applies to courses on the topics of technology impact assessment and ethics in computer science, which are offered either as a required or compulsory elective subject. Students should also implement ideas for sustainability on site together with the sustainability officer.
