Special features regarding the international orientation

In all computer science degree courses, study abroad can be incorporated into the curriculum on the basis of individual learning agreements, and credits earned abroad are recognised. Some degree courses in the department provide for compulsory project internships, which can very well be completed abroad. The Master's degree programmes in Robotics and Autonomous Systems and IT Security are taught completely in English and are therefore aimed especially at foreign students – at the same time, this prepares German-speaking students for international work.

Special features regarding the equipment

Modern buildings for courses and project work with the latest media equipment; Extensive computer laboratories; The library houses a large collection of books and journals and provides extensive online access to resources. It was reopened after being refurbished in December 2023.; Everything on campus a short walk away; Campus-wide central teaching and learning platform (Moodle).

Special features regarding research activities

The department is integrated in terms of personnel and research into the BioMedTec Sciences campus, which enables highly inter-disciplinary research, development and technology transfer. There is close cooperation with the Natural Sciences and Medicine, various third-party-funded projects, both in fundamental research and application areas, prototype development in labs, competence centres as well as a graduate school with a focus on Computing for the Life Sciences.
