Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

Dedicated mathematics faculty with broad mathematics education and many opportunities for education with an individual focus (compulsory elective, from the fourth semester). As part of the Ruhr University Alliance, additional offers from neighbouring universities can be taken in the area of compulsory electives. Mathematics, Technomathematics: Combination with a minor subject. Business Mathematics: Degree course jointly offered with the Faculty of Business and Economics. Study projects as practical courses. Greater flexibility by starting studies in winter & summer. Mathematics teaching qualification for all school forms.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

Special features regarding the international orientation

All students at the Dortmund University of Technology are available as part of the university-wide student exchange agreements with universities in Europe or overseas. The universities of Dortmund, Bochum and Duisburg-Essen (University Alliance Ruhr) have joint liaison offices in New York, South America, etc. Due to the open degree course structure, courses completed abroad can easily be recognised, for the Master's degree course. In order to promote the study abroad programme, the faculty offers in-depth personal advice. More and more courses taught in English are being offered.

Special features regarding the equipment

The TU Dortmund is a centre for supercomputers with strong participation of Mathematics. The faculty has very good computing equipment for teaching, research and academic study. There are computer pools for students of the Faculty of Mathematics (mathematical software, etc.), general pools at the TU Dortmund, and various campus licenses. University library: very well-stocked library with long opening hours (open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., on weekends from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.); There is also a large range of digital resources (new university library building: start 2024)
