Emphasis on academic education over the entire programme through broad-based education in basic subjects according to the Science Council and various opportunities for professional specialisation in the specialisation programme (nine specialisation areas); One-year, structured exam preparation course (refresher courses, exam, essay writing courses, written exam training, written and oral mock exams); Practical learning thanks to numerous moot courts; Research-based studying through overlaps between core areas and key research areas.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Free university services for learning foreign languages; Foreign-language courses offered; Subject-specific foreign language courses and introductory courses on foreign legal systems; Courses taught by international professors; Over 50 partnerships for student stays abroad as part of the Erasmus programme; Option to participate in international moot courts; Pilot faculty in the university programme “Internationalisation of Curricula” with the aim to integrate international and cross-cultural dimensions into teaching and learning processes; teaching content and support structures.

Unique features in some research fields through intradisciplinary collaboration: Research specialisations in Medical Law (also a specialisation in the course) Family, Youth and Educational Law, supporting faculty in the following research institutions: Centre for Modern Indian Studies (CeMIS), Göttingen Centre for Digital Humanities (GCDH) and Centre for Modern East Asian Studies (CeMEAS), Centre for Medieval and Early Modern Studies (Research Training Group Expert Cultures from the 12th to 16th Century), Institute of Agricultural Law, German-Chinese Institute of Law (collaboration with Nanjing University)

Support for founders

The Faculty participates in the SüdniedersachsenInnovationsCampus (SNIC), which boosts the innovation dynamic of the region of Southern Lower Saxony by making available to the region’s companies business-relevant findings from universities and research institutions; Competent students, research assistants and professors from regional institutions are recruited to work on innovative solutions to problems faced by companies in the region; Spin-offs are supported.

Other special features

Diversity focus "Compatibility of family and work": Parent-child room in the immediate vicinity of the library for short-term childcare absences, flexible processing and submission times in the exam course, which is basically designed as a face-to-face event, active information for exam candidates about university opportunities for childcare, support groups for family-friendly times for students with children, parent-child part-time scholarship for academic work employees with child to be looked after (under 12 years)
