Special features regarding teaching

The Department of Law has converted the compulsory curriculum to a modular structure. In the specialisation, there are six different areas of specialisation, which also reflect the research done by the local institutes. Research-based studies and the students' heterogeneity play a central role in the design of courses. The faculty’s involvement in law clinics and moot courts are examples of this. The university exam preparation course is well established and has been accepted very well by students.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The LL.B. degree course at the Hanse Law School includes a year of study abroad. A large number of foreign students come to Bremen through their LL.M. degree. The department cooperates with 45 Erasmus partner universities in 18 countries and with 5 universities in Lebanon, Japan, Russia and Tanzania. A number of English-language, partly Turkish-language courses are offered, as well as a "Legal Turkish" course at the foreign language centre of the universities in the state of Bremen.

Special features regarding the equipment

juris, beck-online and Westlaw access; StudIP use.

Special features regarding research activities

The research by the faculty focuses on transnationalisation, the foundations of law and digitalisation. The most important research institutes are the Centre of European Law and Politics (ZERP), the Research Centre for European Environmental Law (FEU), the Bremen Institute for Gender, Labour and Social Law, the Institute for Commercial Law, the Institute for Information, Health and Medical Law and the Bremen Institute for Criminal Science.
