The institute is involved in a variety of research projects, such as the DFG Collaborative Research Centre "Data Assimilation", the DFG Priority Programme "Geometry at Infinity", third-party funded projects with applications in the field of geoscience or pharmacology and drug development, the DAAD-funded German-French Research Training Group "Stochastic processes and statistical learning" and the institute partnerships Kiev-Potsdam and Beirut-Potsdam (financially supported by the Humboldt Foundation).

Other special features

The Institute of Mathematics is very active in the promotion of women in mathematics. A thematically associated exhibition "Women of mathematics throughout Europe. A gallery of portraits" has already been shown in more than 150 locations. Furthermore, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science takes place on the UN "Woman in Science" day.
