Special features regarding teaching

With the sub-disciplines General Education, School Education, Social Education, Adult Education/Continuing Education and Empirical Education Research/Education Psychology, Education Science in Tübingen is very broad and offers a total of 8 Master’s degrees (M.A., M.Ed., M.Sc., including 1 Continuing Education MA) in addition to B.A., B.Ed. and B.Sc. In addition: Professional teaching qualification, extension subject as well as studies in education towards qualification to teach in grammar school; Closely intermeshed theory and practice; Internships (as part of the curriculum of the Bachelor’s degree programmes); Study Projects; sound research methods

Special features regarding the international orientation

There are Erasmus+ exchange agreements with 21 European partner universities in 18 countries; Professors and staff incl. 4 international visiting professorships or working relationships in AT AU BE BR CA CH CN ES FR GR HK HT IN IO IQ IT JP KE KR LU PL PT TW UK US ZA; ‘CIVIS – A European Civic University’, together with the universities of Aix-Marseille, Athens, Bucharest, Brussels, Madrid, Rome, Salzburg, Stockholm and Glasgow, provide strong international impulses for the faculty.

Special features regarding the equipment

All seminar rooms are equipped with projectors; there is WiFi here and in the university library. Technical equipment for hybrid instruction is available for all courses. The excellent, renovated reference library which is located in the university's old auditorium directly next to the institute building, has approx. 56,000 volumes, there are computer workstations and 80 student workspaces, some also for work groups. Access to extensive stocks of E-Books and specialist databases is available through the university network.

Tübingen is the only university in Baden-Württemberg with broadly based education department with a long tradition. There are excellent linkages and partnerships in place with practitioners and institutions in adult education, social education and education research, and with schools and ministries as well. Excellent study conditions also include: Lots of student workstations in the library, self-organised institute café, good guidance ratio, active student societies, etc. For many, Tübingen is a very attractive place to study.
