Special features regarding teaching

German Studies offers the option of completing the supplementary subject of German as a second and foreign language. The programme in teacher training dovetails discipline-based and subject-based skills. In the Master's specialism "Contemporary Literature/Teaching Literature", there is the option of taking the "Cultural Management" module.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The German Department offers numerous international exchange programmes (ERASMUS, Bildungshanse) and regularly incorporates international visiting academics (e.g. through residential research fellowships, guest lectures and colloquia, which are also available to students and can be credited).

Special features regarding the equipment

In addition to the established support media (e.g. projectors, internet access in all rooms), interactive white boards, internet-based learning platforms (Olat, Moodle) and some social media (Facebook) are used.

Special features regarding research activities

All research projects are also open to students as part of teaching. This applies, for example, to the project ‘Ent-/Fesselung der Sprache’, ‘Wahrnehmungsdialektologie’ or the DFG project ‘ASSET-G: Deutschsprachige Schülertexte bewerten’. This ensures that students do not just receive research-based teaching through perception and discussion of current research literature.

Other special features

Preparatory courses for linguistics review basic grammatical knowledge for students and prepare them for the subsequent demands of studying in the faculty of German Studies.
