Special features regarding teaching

Through the AACSB accreditation, the faculty is committed to maintaining high quality standards. An annual student satisfaction survey reveals any gaps in student support. Common teaching and learning standards have emerged from the dialogue with students. The teaching of ethical principles forms an integral part of all courses. As a member of the PRME initiative, the faculty is committed to responsible management education. As part of the "VIP” programme, the faculty regularly welcomes renowned international teachers.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The faculty has its own International Relations Centre. The broad and constantly growing network of currently around 120 partner universities enables students to complete various types of stays abroad – from semesters abroad (with full recognition of exam credits) to double degrees (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD). All study programmes have a high proportion of courses taught in English. Some programmes can be studied entirely in English. International lecturers in numerous courses.

Special features regarding the equipment

Compared to other business departments, the faculty has one of the best facilities with subscriptions to economic databases throughout Germany - from Datastream to Compustat to Wharton Research. The statistics packages Stata, EViews and R are available for quantitative analyses at workstations as well as in the four computer clusters of the faculty. The faculty is a pioneer at the university in the use of e-learning and electronic exams.

Special features regarding research activities

The faculty has a common understanding that basic research and applied research across a wide range of topics correspond with its social responsibility. Projects: Excellence Start-up Centre.NRW (ESC) at the University of Münster, European Research Centre for Information Systems (ERCIS), CLAIRE network (Confederation of Laboratories for Artificial Intelligence Research in Europe), digital medium-sized city of the future; German Research Foundation (DFG) (sub-projects): FOR 2738, FOR 1452, SPP 1921

Support for founders

The faculty has successfully acquired the Excellence Start-up Centre.NRW for the University of Münster. The "REACH" Start-up Centre, which emerged from the programme, is the central platform for the founding of knowledge-based start-ups in Euregio. It offers entrepreneurship teaching, advice and coaching/mentoring. The Start-up Centre enables students to bring their start-up ideas to life and supports them from the initial idea (including Hackathon, Future Creator Programme) to the application for funding (including "REACH for EXIST") to the successful start-up (incubator programme).

Other special features

The faculty has been awarded the international AACSB accreditation – one of the most important accreditations for business schools, which has so far been awarded to only around 5% of all business schools worldwide. The award underlines excellence in research and teaching. The faculty is committed to equal opportunities, the promotion of gender competence, gender-appropriate communication and the prevention of sexual violence. As part of its sustainability activities, the faculty has joined the PRME initiative, which pursues the goal of responsible management training.
