Special features regarding teaching

Integrated methodology training (data collection/data analysis and in the neurocognitive field through link to the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience Berlin); intensive support in foundation training through tutorials; training in psychological interviewing and basic psychotherapeutic skills; external guests from companies/therapists are invited who carry out specific exercises with students and often offer work placements and student internships (practice-integrated teaching); provision of accompanying programmes (e.g. psychotherapeutic outpatient clinic).

Special features regarding the international orientation

These include EU research associations (e.g. EU programmes FP7 and DAPHNE), as well as various international projects co-financed by the DFG, the VW Foundation or the Jacobs Foundation, such as project ‘E-Read: Reading in the Age of Digitalisation’. The Psychology Department is also involved in the IMPRS ‘LIFE’ and the IMPRS ‘COMP2PSYCH’ and participates in collaborations in the context of institutional research networks such as COST campaign IS0801 ‘Cyberbullying: coping with negative and enhancing positive uses of new technologies in relationships in educational settings’ of the EU.

The facilities and centres located in the application-related areas of psychology not only serve training purposes, but are also essential drivers of developments in innovative research, such as the University Outpatient Clinic for Psychotherapy, Diagnostics and Health Promotion, the Centre for Mental Health or the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience Berlin. The ‘FU Diagnostik’ consulting facility offers advice on a variety of topics. The Dahlem Leadership Academy helps scientific leaders fulfil their leadership role in the best possible way.
