Special features regarding teaching

The Faculty of Business Administration (BWL) at the University of Hamburg was one of the first faculties in Hamburg to develop a mission statement for teaching. Key points in teaching are the newly designed Bachelor's and Master's programmes. They offer an academically oriented, methodological education with a variety of specialisation options. The teaching is research-oriented, with a focus on stimulating independent thinking.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The Faculty of Business Administration has more than 20 partnerships (as part of Erasmus +) with international universities. There are exchange programmes with nine universities in South America and Asia. There is also a double degree programme (MSc/MBA) with the Graduate School of Management at Kyoto University.

Special features regarding the equipment

Co-working space/economics and social sciences research lab/databases: Wisonet/Genios, Business Source Complete/Ebsco, ABI/Inform Complete/ProQuest, EconLit with Fulltext/Ebsco, Social Sciences Citation Index/Clarivate Analytics, Stotax First and IBFD. In addition, the library has licensed the most important databases for corporate and financial data, which are also used by students, e.g. for their final theses: WRDS, Compustat (S&P), CRSP, Dafne and Refintiv Workspace and Bloomberg Terminal.

Special features regarding research activities

Research in the research focus areas is interdisciplinary, international and practice-oriented and deals with topics relevant to society and business. The Faculty of Business Administration has three research focus areas: Health Economics, Marketing & Communication, Logistics & Digital Services. The faculty plays a central role in the interdisciplinary research centre Hamburg Centre for Health Economics (HCHE). In the WirtschaftsWoche Ranking, the most important national ranking for business and economic research, the faculty came in third place in Germany.
