Special features regarding teaching

Strong theoretical and methodological foundation of teaching. Teaching staff combine research and teaching excellence. Modern educational tools ("ClassEx", a successful tool for experiments and interactive lectures, was developed by the faculty and is widely used by it). "DeepWrite" project (sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research): Development of AI-based evaluation of student texts, trial application in current courses. Consistent transfer of skills in a professional context, case studies, team project assignments, specialist lectures from practitioners, close cooperation with companies.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Extensive range of courses taught in English; 1,818 international students (winter semester 21/22) in total; 78 international partner universities in Europe beyond (e.g. University of Ghana in Accra); University-wide orientation events for international students; International Day; Special exams for exchange students; Regular visits from international visiting lecturers and visiting professors (e.g. via the International Centre for Economic and Business Studies); Numerous double Master's programmes (e.g. with SWUFE in Chengdu, China)

Internet-based working environment to support courses and evaluation (Stud.IP), experimental lab PAULA for investigating decision-making behaviour, extensive electronic literature databases (e.g. Business Source Premier + additional licences, JSTOR) and other databases such as Thomson One Banker, professional presentation equipment in all classrooms (projectors, WiFi, etc.), high number of PC workstations with MS Office, Stata, R, Eviews, etc., all chairs are equipped for online and hybrid teaching, equipment for online conferences available

Special features regarding research activities

In the new German Research Foundation (DFG) Research Training Group, representatives of the faculty from Business Administration, Economics and Business Information Systems join forces in the field of "Digital Platform Ecosystems". The faculty placed in the top 201-250 faculties worldwide in the latest "Subject Ranking" by Times Higher Education (THE) (improvement in the category "Business and Economics" by 150 places). Similar to the universities of Cologne and Hamburg or Queen Mary University London. The faculty has a strong focus on research excellence.

Support for founders

Systematic support along individual start-up journey (PATEC – Passau the Entrepreneurial Campus: Cross-faculty start-up support through transfer centre, 9 chairs and institute); Entrepreneurship certificate programmes, e.g. raising awareness (Pathfinder, LawClinic), start-up idea implementation (Honours Degree/7 months intensive programme); Curricular and extracurricular events (e.g. 5-euro Business competition, female business founder academy, workshops and courses); “Gründerzeit” (start-up time): 2-semester leave of absence possible; Close cooperation with Lower Bavarian Digitalisation Start-up Centre
