Special features regarding teaching

The profile of the degree courses is aligned to the research profile of the faculty whilst also providing flexibility for individual specialisation; Relevant specialisations: Accounting & Finance, International Business, Quantitative Methods; Bachelor's: Semester abroad built into the curriculum (numerous partner universities to choose from), combination of economics education and specialist language training, easy to combine with Master's degree; Master's: programmes are basically application-oriented, combined with the then strongly research-oriented option to transfer to a structured doctoral programme.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Periods of one to two semesters abroad can be completed at one of the many partner universities of Tübingen as part of the programmes. Within the Erasmus+ programme alone, students at the Faculty of Economic Sciences can choose from 47 partner universities in Europe. They can also attend universities in other parts of the world thanks to the university’s partnerships. Around 40% of Bachelor’s courses and over 70% of Master’s courses are taught in English. Various double Master’s (I, F, UK, Japan), MSc International Business with Africa and Asia.

PC cluster with always up-to-date, high-quality computers that are designed to handle complex econometric calculations with large data sets; Flexible access to cloud-based computing capacities and to the cluster for high-performance computing; Extensive range of databases for empirical research; Extensive range of statistics software with numerous training courses (R, Stata, Python, MATLAB, MaxQDA, Atlas.ti); Permanently installed projectors in lecture halls, some also with multimedia equipment & whiteboard; Free WiFi access on campus; ILIAS platform.

Special features regarding research activities

To a large extent focus on quantitative empirical research in the fields of Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, International Business, Regulation. Headquarters of the German Research Foundation (DFG) Research Unit on Understanding the Behaviour of Multinational Corporations in the Context of International Tax Institutions (Research Unit 2738). The interdisciplinary Research School of International Taxation (www.rsit-uni-tuebingen.de) deals with the topic of international taxation and uses theory and empiricism. Numerous publications in leading international journals, regular research with practice partners.

Support for founders

The team at the Start-up Centre supports students, researchers, staff and alumni of the University of Tübingen in bringing their innovative ideas from academia into use, covering the wide spectrum of advice, education and research. The broad range of services includes advice on funding and coaching, a diverse teaching and course programme, networking events, the provision of co-working spaces and a fully equipped innovation lab.
