Research profile is developed at the interdisciplinary interface between economic sciences and engineering/natural sciences. This thematic orientation utilises the special opportunities provided by a technical university. The specialisations of the Master's programmes are structured on the basis of the resulting four research areas. Teaching content in all programmes also focuses on the critical discussion of current research findings, and mathematical-analytical research methods are emphasised when and where appropriate.

The transfer and incubator centre supports students and doctoral students in realising their start-up ideas. About 40 start-ups are supported annually. The faculty was re-accredited in 2021 by the internationally renowned agency Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). During the inspection, particular attention was paid to teaching and research activities in the faculty. The faculty's mission statement and code of conduct for teaching, which was drafted and signed by the teaching staff and student representatives, were taken into account. Many courses address the social consequences of economic activity. Corporate Social Responsibility is a compulsory subject in the Master's in Business Administration.
